With annual revenues of nearly EUR 23 billion in 2007, DHL is the global market leader of the international express and logistics industry. Wholly owned by Deutsche Post World Net, DHL offers expertise in express, air and ocean freight, overland transport and logistics solutions. To meet the demands of over 4.2 million customers around the globe, DHL’s international network links more than 220 countries and territories worldwide, with over 280.000 dedicated employees (DHL Express and DHL Logistics). As DHL continues to expand its network it identified a need for improved management systems and reporting to support the organization. As such it made the strategic decision to implement SunSystems as the regional financial and management reporting solution for the organization.
Michalis Kashioulides, Finance Director of DHL Cyprus Ltd commented: “Integrated applications and powerful systems create important prerequisites for success in the global logistics market with its unique growth potentials. Modern companies require tailored IT solutions that can be integrated and have the highest security and performance. Thus, we decided to implement SunSystems in Cyprus. This constitutes part of the global roll out application implemented across the Middle East Area, supporting the new shared service structure for DHL Middle East Area reporting and billing”.
Valentinos Piripitsis, Finance Supervisor of DHL Cyprus added: “we wanted a standardized financial system across Middle East & Europe in order to be able to consolidate our data and to undertake sophisticated business analysis & management reporting. We are convinced that this will bring improved efficiencies through removing manual processing in country and area offices; and it will empower country offices to handle accounts receivable, accounts payable and cash management. We also want to improve our customer service and we want to be in a better position to compare data across different areas. The implementation of the pilot project was very successful as it was completed in a short timeframe and was relatively smooth”.
Infor awarded the pilot project that kicked off in Cyprus to their regional partner NetU Consultants Ltd, which was subsequently rolled out to 13 territories in the Middle East.
