Case Studies
Asylum Service, Ministry of Interior
The Republic of Cyprus established the Asylum Service in order to become harmonized with the International Conventions and the Acquis Communittaire. The Cyprus Republic has replaced the United Nations for Human Rights High Commission for the examination of the asylum applications from the 1st of January 2002. With the number of asylum seekers reaching its peak in 2004, when 9.860 applications were received, the need for a system that would allow the Asylum Service to have a complete history of each application on record became apparent. As a result, NetU developed a system that handles the receipt of application forms from asylum seekers, recording of the necessary interviews, recording of the findings from the case examination and of the resulting decision and the processing of statistical data.
